Souvenir Mug (Eddie Biggins)

I reached out my hand as it slid
Off the counter, but I missed
It shattered all over the floor
And I was pretty pissed
It wasn’t all that important to me
But it brought up a fond memory
That souvenir mug, it was gone
With a movement of my wrist

Now, I could attempt some repair
With a little Krazy Glue
But there are too many small shards
It’s not practical to do
And with my lack of crafting technique
I’d be pretty damn sure it would leak
That souvenir mug has been lost
But I’ll manage to get through

I bought it on a trip a few years back
And until today, all it had was one small crack
Maybe I could order a replacement online
But then, that one wouldn’t be mine

The way we hang on to this stuff
Isn’t that hard to explain
They give us small moments of joy
Without causing any pain
But ultimately it’s just a thing
In spite of the feels it may bring
That souvenir mug may be gone
But the memories remain
