Some days I wish I were an ostrich
With my head buried in the sand
Just a plain and simple ostrich
Unconcerned with the foibles of man
I would hide and the world would not exist
To my Struthionidae mind
I would live in uneducated bliss
Unaware of the cruel and unkind

If only I could be an ostrich
Just ignoring all that unrest
Oh to be a clueless ostrich
Maybe then I would not feel so stressed
From the violence and negativity
On the socials and on the news
From the hate and the lack of empathy
That so many of us seem to choose

Yeah, yeah, I do know that an ostrich
Doesn’t hide out in that way
It’s a metaphoric ostrich
Telling me to take a day
And tune out all the noise and all the strife
Get some rest and renew my soul
Then get back to what’s important in my life
Till again I start losing control
